Why Te Reo Maori should be taught in schools across New Zealand

Te Reo Maori is also a big part in New Zealand's culture and history. It was also the first ever language to get spoken in New Zealand.te reo Maori is only spoken in New Zealand and it is our native language. Te Reo Maori is a special language to Maori’s most of the Maori’s even call it their tonga.

Surprisingly, only a small percentage of New Zealand actually speak Maori. In the early 1800s the whole New Zealand population spoke Te Reo Maori. That was until the Europeans discovered New Zealand. They started invading the Maori tribes In the 1840s. That was until they signed the Treaty of Waitangi but they didn't translate it properly. On the Maori's one it said that they will get ownership of the land. However on the Europeans side, it also said that they will get ownership of the land. Our side of the treaty also said that we have to have partnership, participation, and protection.

Te Reo Maori is New Zealand's native language and a tonga in our hearts. With only our country speaking Maori, it makes it very special to us and makes us unique. What if you get a job where the workers only speak Te Reo Maori? It is very good to learn new languages because it helps to grow our brains and will help us in the future with stuff.

With that I'm done with my side of should Te Reo Maori be taught in all schools across New Zealand and I say yes.
